William "Bill" Terrence Orban built an elite hockey career from Saskatchewan to the NHL, and then continued living the game for decades after his professional years. As a former NHL forward and Calder Cup champion, he brought speed, skill, and consistency to every team he represented.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Orban played 114 NHL games between 1967 and 1970 with the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota North Stars. His professional career spanned from 1963 to 1975 and included key contributions in the American Hockey League and Central Hockey League.
In 1971, he won the Calder Cup with the Springfield Kings, adding a major championship to an already strong resume. Long after his top-level professional years, Orban remained active in hockey and continued skating in the Saskatoon 60+ Hockey League into his late 70s.
That lifelong commitment to the game is exactly what the USA 80+ Hockey Hall of Fame celebrates. Bill Orban's journey reflects both competitive excellence and enduring passion, making him a natural fit for the inaugural 2025 induction class.
