To Don "Cammy" Cameron, hockey has always been about more than just the scoreboard; it is a "pilgrimage." Since 2003, Don has been the heartbeat of the University of Denver’s Alumni hockey community, ensuring that the bonds formed on the ice decades ago remain as strong as ever.
When interest in the alumni team began to wane, Don stepped in. He didn't just recruit players; he rebuilt a tradition. Under his leadership, the DU Snoopy team became a staple of the tournament, fostering a culture where "the pride never leaves." His efforts have kept legends from programs like Michigan and North Dakota coming back year after year to face off against the Pioneers.
Don often says that being a DU hockey player means being a "quality person"—someone you can count on in life, not just on the ice. Supported by his wife, Marie, Don has created a space where 80+ athletes can stay physically active and mentally stimulated. "We’ll go through walls for each other," Don notes, and that sentiment is exactly why he belongs in the Hall of Fame.
As a builder, leader, and teammate, Don Cameron continues to prove that while the pace might change, the passion for the game—and for each other—is timeless.
